Description : |
Newspaper article from The Observer's correspondent refuting the rumours that Waikerie is 'doomed, damned and done for'. The correspondent writes that although some dissatisfied settlers have left, those remaining are content. The South Australian government established the provisions for the founding of communal settlements, known as village settlements, in a part of the Crown Lands Amendment Act in 1893. Settlers arrived at Waikerie at the beginning of March in 1894. |
