Newspaper article reporting on the progress of the Waikerie village settlement. It also mentions that some settlers have left Waikerie and have established a new settlement called Ramco. The South Australian government established the provisions for the founding of communal settlements, known as village settlements, in a part of the Crown Lands Amendment Act in 1893. Settlers arrived at Waikerie at the beginning of March in 1894. In July 1894 by 18 disgruntled settlers from the Waikerie village settlement established a new settlement, Ramco. |
