THE LATE LANCE-CORPORAL E.R. WATKINS

Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Watkins, of the Rising Sun Hotel, Lobethal, have received

notification of the death of their eldest son, Lance-Corporal Elliot Robert Watkins,

who was killed in action on May 6 in France. He was born in Lobethal on May 16,

1879, and after spending his boyhood in the district left for Western Australia,

where he was successful as a contractor. He enlisted in November, 1915, and

sailed for Egypt in January, 1916. He gained his stripes in the fighting at Pozieres.

Two brothers, Ernest and Lawrence, are in France, the latter having been

wounded in action.
