Description : |
Unloading supplies from a camel string at Maggie Springs, near Ayers Rock (Uluru). During their travels, the Board of Enquiry party camped at Maggie Springs (Mutitjulu water hole), on the southern side of Ayers Rock. Mountford comments that their bunks were only a short distance from a wall of the rock rising over 900 feet high. At night Mountford visited some of the caves to view paintings, an experience that piqued his curiosity and influenced his wish to learn more about the Aboriginal people who revered Uluru, and their spirituality. |
