Lunatic Asylum, Hackney The asylum was built in 1851 and was designed by William Bennet Hayes. The main buildings, located on North Terrace were demolished in 1938 and the site subsumed as part of the Botanic Gardens. A small part of the complex still exists within the Adelaide Botanic Gardens including Yarrabee House, part of the walling and the morgue which is presently used by the Botanic Gardens as a tool shed. |
