Description : |
Born as Harry van der Sluys in Adelaide in 1891, actor and comedian Roy Rene became well-known on the Sydney vaudeville circuit. He found fame around Australia for his portrayal of the character Mo in the comedy duo Stiffy and Mo. Mo was known for his distinctive black and white make-up. A statue of Roy Rene by sculptor Robert Hannaford was unveiled near the corner of Hindley and Leigh Street in Adelaide on 4 March 2010. This invitation to the Martin Sharp art exhibition 'Just for fun' pictures a Sharp poster for the Nimrod Theatre which features a caricature the character, Mo.
