Advertisement for the China Gift Store, owned by Gladys Sym Choon, which is described as "the jade-coloured wonder shoppe". Gladys Sym Choon opened the China Gift Store when she was just 18 years old. She sold napery, embroidery and other fine cloths, lingerie and decorative china. Each year Gladys travelled to China to purchase stock for her shop. The shop is now occupied by a men and women's clothing store called Miss Gladys Sym Choon in her honour. |
