Description :

Much awarded at agricultural shows around South Australia, the stump jump plough revolutionised farming practices by being able to 'jump' over obstructions such as stumps and stones, thus ending the necessity to clear the land before ploughing could begin.

This advertisement for the Smiths' stump jump plough states that in all the competitions between agricultural machinery entered in the 35 years since its development, the plough has won on all but one occasion.
