Description : |
View of the Treasury Building, located on the corner of King William Street and Flinders Street, Adelaide. Built in 1839, the Treasury Building was designed by colonial architect George Strickland Kingston. Underneath the building are tunnels constructed in the 1850s. The tunnels still contain a furnace which is thought to have been used to smelt gold transported to Adelaide from the Victorian gold fields during the gold rush of that period. |
