Description :

Photograph taken behind the Balfours factory located at the corner of Morphett and Franklin Streets, Adelaide. The driver is Arthur Hodgetts and his companions Jim Makins (right) with his girlfriend and Herb Shroder. The vehicle is an Oldsmobile with coachwork by Duncan and Fraser.


Balfours moved its factory to this location from Cardwell Street in the city's south east. The factory remained here until 2003 when manufacturing was moved to Dudley Park, a suburb in Adelaide's inner north-west.
