Advertisement for James Calder, family bread and biscuit baker, thanking his customers for their patronage during the nine years he has been in business in Adelaide. Calder, a Scottish immigrant, established the City Steam Biscuit Factory in 1856. His nephew, John Balfour, later joined the company and they began trading as Calder and Balfour. Over 150 years later, the name Balfour is still associated with South Australian bakery products. |
