Gold prospecting at Mount Grainger, in South Australia's north near Port Augusta.

Gold discoveries have been made throughout South Australia and have generally had early high yields, but have been exhausted relatively quickly. Gold has been found in the Mount Lofty Ranges, Barossa Valley and in the north of the state in locations such as Waukaringa and Teetulpa.
