Description :

Described by Day (p 224) as 'a seven-piece band cast in the mould of British soul revivalists Dexy's Midnight Runners'. Were active in Adelaide for only 20 months from 1981-1983 with their first gig at the Union Hotel on the 7 December 1981.

The band consisted of Peter Flierl (bass), Heinz Steins (drums), Andy Berrington (tenor sax), Russell Burton (alto sax), Dan Clements (trumpet), Gerry Barrett (guitar), Glen Errington (keyboards), Frank Moller (voice) and John Oldman (guitar). After the recording of the single The finer art of gardening , three of the band members (Peter Flierl, Heinz Steins, Russell Burton ) left Del Webb and created a band called Plan B.

Meanwhile, the remaining Del Webb members kept together to launch The finer art of gardening b/w Too late the hero which came out on GPR in May 1983. Soon afterwards Del Webb totally fell apart with band members going their separate ways with Frank Moller going on to create the band Ship of Fools in 1984 which later became Sweets of Sin. Barrett joined the Exploding White Mice and later The Dust Collection.
