Jack 'Dinny' Reedman, the captain, was a South Australian sporting great who started his career in 1885 with Medindie, the forerunner of the North Adelaide Football Club. Reedman experienced nine premierships over his football career, five playing with South Adelaide, three with North and one coaching West Adelaide. He captained South Australia in both football and cricket and played one test match for Australia. A memorial to him can be seen near the eastern entrance to the Adelaide Oval.

Champion rover, Tom MacKenzie, joined North from West Torrens where he had won the 1902 Magarey Medal. He won the Medal twice while playing for North in 1905 and 1906. He was named first rover in North Adelaide's 'Team of the Century'.

Anthony 'Bos' Daly has been described as South Australian football's first champion goalsneak. His record of 23 goals in one match when playing for Norwood in 1893 has been equalled, by North's Ken Farmer in 1940, but never bettered. A well travelled footballer, as well as playing for North and Norwood, he also played for West Torrens, West Adelaide and South Adelaide.

Ruckman John Earl was the first recorded winner of North's best and fairest award in 1899. He also won the award in 1902 and 1908.

Charles Nitschke, who had been the first captain of Medindie, had a lifelong association with North Adelaide and is accepted as the club's true founder. He was North's first secretary and was a staunch proponent for district or electorate football. This system, which meant a player had to play for the team in whose district he resided, was made compulsory in 1899. This meant that the weaker teams of the time, such as North, West and West Torrens, could compete on equal terms with the more established clubs of South, Norwood and Port.

Sir Lewis Cohen was Adelaide's Mayor, later Lord Mayor, and Member of Parliament for the seat of North Adelaide.
