Description :
The News billboard for Friday 5 December 1969 with a headline about the 'legalisation' of abortion in South Australia. Introduced by Attorney General Robin Millhouse, the Criminal Law Consolidation Amendment Act of 1969 liberalised the abortion law. Abortion remained illegal when performed late in pregnancy unless it was performed solely to preserve the life of the pregnant woman. Earlier terminations could be performed whenever the 'maternal health' ground or the 'foetal disability' ground was satisfied.
